FOCUS AREAS:
Art Direction | Design Thinking | Strategy
OVERVIEW:
At Beautycon, Code.org partnered with Refinery29 to bring their Clack the Code booth to life—a space where technology met creativity in the most unexpected way: nail art. The activation turned coding into something hands-on and stylish, spotlighting the Hour of Code, a global movement that introduces millions of people to computer science through one-hour activities. Attendees not only got to see the creative side of coding but were also inspired to jump in themselves, signing up to support the mission and explore how code can be a tool for self-expression.

THE USER JOURNEY
ENTER THE SPACE
Guests start by scanning a QR code to join an Hour of Code event and explore more coding activities. As they enter the booth, they're met with nail art visuals, setting the tone for creativity.
CODE YOUR NAILS
At the iPad stations, guests explore coding through a simple, fill-in-the-blank interface inspired by CSS. As they build their custom nail design, AI instantly transforms their inputs into a digital rendering, blending creativity with code in real time.
TAKE IT WITH YOU
After creating their design, guests receive a digital copy of their custom nail art to save, share, or bring to their next appointment. As a bonus, they leave with a set of nail gems, turning inspiration into something they can wear IRL.
